Hawaiian officials have officially suspended the search on land for victims of the deadly wildfires in Maui. Instead, the search will now focus solely on finding victims in the ocean.

Officials have indicated that there will not be any dramatic changes in the death toll as the search moves to its final stages. The death toll currently stands at 115.

The coroner’s physician working on identifying the bodies indicated that the process has been complex and urged people with missing relatives to submit DNA swabs.

The announcement was made earlier this week, soon after the announcement of a list comprised of the names of those still missing.

In addition to the suspension of the land search, Hawaii also received some federal funding. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is providing $95 million to Hawaiian Electric for strengthening its power grids.

Hawaiian Electric has denied responsibility after being accused of starting the fires.
