Another day another indictment against the former president. Tuesday, a D.C. federal grand jury charged Donald Trump over his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election and the events surrounding January 6th.
The charges stem from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation, the same special counsel who brought charges against Trump for mishandling classified documents.
It marks the third indictment against the 45th president in just four months. The four-count indictment alleges Trump conspired to defraud the U.S. by preventing Congress from certifying the 2020 election, and to deprive voters of their right to a fair election.
It accuses Trump and his six co-defendants of knowingly spreading lies about voter fraud in order to “create an intense national atmosphere of mistrust and anger.”
Trump will appear in D.C. federal court Thursday.
