Ron DeSantis is still making waves in Florida. The governor announced Wednesday that he had suspended Monique Worrell, State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit, who DeSantis said was both incompetent and derelict in her duties.
Backed by a group with ties to left-wing mega donor George Soros, Worrell is known for pursuing light sentences, even for murderers and other violent offenders.
For her part, Worrell slammed the governor as a “dictator.”
Judge Andrew Bain will assume her duties. It marks the second time DeSantis booted a Soros backed prosecutor. Last year, the governor removed State Attorney Andrew Warren of the 13th Judicial Circuit on similar grounds.
