Russia and China are teaming up for naval drills dangerously close to the United States.
Last week, 11 warships from both countries conducted a joint naval operation near Alaska’s Aleutian islands. The U.S. Navy was forced to mobilize four destroyers to guide the ships away from American waters.
This marks the third year in a row that Chinese navy ships appeared near the Alaskan islands. The state’s two Republican Senators, Dan Sullivan and Lisa Murkowski, said the drills are “yet another reminder that we have entered a new era of authoritarian aggression led by the dictators in Beijing and Moscow.”
Sullivan said the U.S. response sent “a strong message” to both China and Russia.
