Canada has issued a travel advisory to LGBTQ people visiting the United States.
Global Affairs Canada updated the travel advisory Tuesday morning, saying “some states have enacted laws and policies that may affect 2SLGBTQI+ persons.” The advisory even includes a “state sponsored homophobia report” detailing the laws concerning sexual orientation in each US state.
This comes as America’s largest LGBT advocacy organization, called Human Rights Campaign, declared its first national state of emergency in June. It released a guideline for its community members who planned to travel “through some of the most hostile regions of the country.”
