Former President Donald Trump, the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, will miss this week’s GOP presidential forum.

Former Fox host Tucker Carlson will host the event in Des Moine, Iowa, on Friday.

A number of candidates are slated for one-on-one interviews with Carlson including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley. Trump will not be in attendance due to a scheduling conflict. The forum is presented by Blaze Media and Christian conservative group The Family Leader.

The group’s CEO, Bob Vander Plaats, said the forum is meant to give candidates a chance to share who they are with Iowa voters. Trump’s absence comes as senior Trump advisor Jason Miller confirmed this week that he is also unlikely to attend the first two primary debates as well. But that’s not discouraging the other candidates. DeSantis told Fox News he will debate regardless of if Trump’s there or not.
