A 49-year old trans-identifying male just won bronze in the 400-meter women’s race at the 2023 World Para Athletics Championship in Paris.

Valentina Petrillo has swept nine titles in the para-athletics competition since 2019, when he began transitioning and taking estrogen. But not everyone is celebrating Petrillo’s accolades.

After finding out that the trans-identifying male doesn’t use the women’s locker rooms, a group called RadFem Italia wrote “if you recognize that Petrillo’s body is male before and after the competition, it is not clear why it should be female during the competition.”

But Petrillo retaliated, claiming his critics are “on the same level as Hitler.”
