Seattle public schools may be giving gender-affirming hormonal treatments to students behind their parents’ backs. Students as young as 11 are eligible for the program.
Parents Defending Education busted Meany Middle School and Nova High School last week for targeting gender dysphoric youth with free hormone therapy. Both schools list transgender care as available clinic services.
But Seattle Public Schools also has a policy that staff should keep a student’s chosen gender identity secret from parents. This makes it unclear if parents are informed about children who receive these treatments.
Parents Defending Education Founder Nicki Neily says most parents don’t know what rights they are signing away when they fill out school clinic consent forms.
The school clinic registration form also offers birth control, pregnancy, and abortion services. The clinics are partially paid for with taxpayer funds.
