In some rather surprising news, Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin seemingly appeared in public for the first time since his mutiny against Putin’s leadership.
Wednesday, a low-resolution video of Prighozin was posted to his Telegram account, showing the Wagner Group leader addressing his soldiers in Belarus. He is heard saying that his team won’t be invading Ukraine, and that they will take up combat in Africa.
Prigozhin also said that they will make the Belarusian army “the second-strongest army in the world.” Meanwhile, Russian President Vladmir Putin reportedly has come “under pressure” for making a “humiliating deal” with Prigozhin just days after the mutiny.
But Putin’s attention may be elsewhere, as Russian aggression after pulling out from the Black Sea Grain Deal is ramping up. Wednesday, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced it would assume all vessels approaching Ukraine were hostile and carrying weapons.
