The House Freedom Caucus has ousted Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene after a series of feuds with the other members.
Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.) confirmed Greene’s removal. He says the group overwhelmingly voted her out after a June 30 meeting, but they delayed the formalities.
Greene landed in the hot seat after repeatedly siding with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). In particular, the caucus decried McCarthy’s Fiscal Responsibility Act, but Greene broke ranks and voted for the law.
Her verbal spats with the other caucus members have also sometimes escalated into insults, like a recent derogatory comment toward Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert.
Greene responded to the news by stating she doesn’t serve any Washington group but instead puts her district and Christian principles first.
“The GOP has less than two years to show America what a strong, unified Republican-led congress will do when President Trump wins the White House in 2024,” Taylor Greene said.
The news comes as President Joe Biden heads to Taylor Greene’s district to tout the impact of “Bidenomics” on solar energy. Greene recently introduced impeachment articles against Biden.
