Antisemitic remarks are becoming all too common among Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill, and now it seems that President Joe Biden is attempting damage control by inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House.
The invitation comes a little later than expected, as Netanyahu was sworn in seven months ago; but it follows on the heels of Biden also inviting Israeli President Isaac Herzog to come speak to Congress. The latter decision has sparked some controversy.
We reported Monday that Democratic Representative Pramila Jayapal (Wash.) called Israel a “racist state.” She eventually walked back her comment, but others still said they will be boycotting the address.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) called out other Democratic representatives and their explicitly antisemitic comments. He is now calling on Democratic leadership to step up and stop these remarks.
