Sadly, we were a little too quick to celebrate a pro-life win at the end of Mondy’s show. Just hours after Iowa’s governor signed a heartbeat bill into law, a district court judge blocked the bill from taking effect.
Planned Parenthood issued the lawsuit. Polk County District Court Judge Joseph Seidlin ruled that the abortion provider will most likely win in court, in accordance with 2015 and 2018 rulings in their favor, and therefore issued a temporary injunction to pause the heartbeat bill.
This means abortion up to 22 weeks will remain legal in Iowa.
Iowa gov. Kim Reynolds responded to the injunction saying she is still committed to fighting for life.
“I will fight this all the way to the Iowa Supreme Court, where we expect a decision that will finally provide justice for the unborn,” Reynolds said.
