Over the weekend, the U.S. bore witness to several shootings across six different states. There were tragically six deaths counted among the multiple shootings, and dozens of injuries.

The first reported shootings happened on Friday night.

In Baltimore, police reported that six people were shot in the northern part of the city, and all were expected to survive their wounds. The victims were anywhere between the ages of 17 and 26. Baltimore on Sunday night reported another shooting that injured a 52-year old woman.

It is unknown if these incidents are related, and the shooter was not believed to be among the injured.

Meanwhile in California, a pool party in Carson – located in the southern part of the state – was interrupted by gunfire which left eight people wounded. Kids had gathered for a graduation party in the area, and investigators believe a fight may have broken out before the shooting commenced.

Come Saturday, reported shootings continued.

In Pennsylvania, one state trooper was critically injured and another was killed soon after a suspect drove a truck into the parking lot of a barracks in Lewistown. The suspect was shot and killed after a gun battle, as announced by Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Col. Chris Paris.

In Washington state, two people were killed and two others injured at a campground. A shooter reportedly fired “randomly” into a crowd at the campground where many stayed to attend the nearby Beyond Wonderland music festival. The suspect was shot by law enforcement and taken into custody.

Beyond Wonderland, which kept running until early Sunday morning while the shooting took place, cancelled their Sunday concert citing concern for its attendees and performers.

On Sunday, three more shootings gripped the nation.

It started in Willowbrook, Illinois – a suburb of Chicago – where 23 people were shot early on Sunday morning. One of the victims died and others were hurt while trying to flee.

The shooting occurred at what was reported to be a peaceful gathering in a parking lot meant to celebrate Juneteenth. It is unknown if there were multiple suspects or one bad actor, and an investigation is underway.

President Joe Biden responded to the tragedy through a White House statement, offering assistance if needed.

In St. Louis, another early shooting occurred at an office building in the downtown area. One 17-year-old was killed and nine other teens were wounded in the incident, which happened during an office party at 1 a.m. A minor with a handgun was later arrested as a person of interest.

Finally, in San Francisco, six people were injured in what was described as a “car-to-car” shooting in the evening. Police believe the incident was purposeful, perhaps even gang-related.

Two girls, ages 10 and 16, became involved after they were struck by one of the vehicles while walking their bikes across the street. One was transferred to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the other girl was thankfully not injured.

It is worth noting that news outlets are describing many of these events as mass shootings. The typical definition of a mass shooting usually involved four or more deaths in each incident – but the number of injured in most cases is what led to the declaration.
