U.S. embassies around the world are flying the pride flag – with some notable exceptions.

From Europe to Asia the rainbow colors were raised alongside the American flag; but in some parts of the world, like Saudi Arabia, the pride flag is missing. And it’s not just there – Iraw, Kuwait, Jordan, and several other embassies in Muslim countries are also choosing not to fly it.

It’s a stark contrast to the embassies in Israel and even the Vatican, where the rainbow has been raised despite the religions of their hosts.

Fox News asked the State Department if the beliefs of the Catholic Church on sexuality were considered before flying the flag at the Vatican. The department responded saying:

Recognizing that each country context is different, U.S. embassies and consulates develop individual plans to raise awareness of violence, human rights abuses and discrimination targeting LGBTQI+ persons, including appropriate exterior displays.
