The world of sports saw a historic shift in golf Tuesday when the PGA Tour, European Tour and the Saudi-backed LIV Golf circuit announced a landmark agreement to merge. This will form a commercial entity to unify golf.
The three organizations also said that they will allow a process for any LIV Golf players to reapply for membership in the other tours.
The agreement will also put an end to a bitter rivalry between the long-established PGA Tour and the newly created LIV Golf Circuit.
This comes as the newer circuit attracted big-name players away from the rival tours with staggering sums of guaranteed money as well as huge tournament payouts.
As part of the merger, the tours and their contracted players agreed to end all of the numerous lawsuits that had been filed after PGA players began bolting for LIV.
