Hospitals are tragically filled to capacity as a scorching heat wave is plaguing India.

The average temperature of 115 degrees over the last several days is causing power outages, resulting in no air conditioning and no running water. Hospital attendants were seen fanning patients with books to help keep them cool.

The death toll is now over 170, and continues to rise. The government issued a red alert warning last week for the extreme heat, and is working to ensure an uninterrupted power supply.

Meanwhile, other parts of the country are experiencing a different kind of natural disaster, as heavy rainfall has triggered flooding. Those areas are also under high alert.
