President Biden’s son, Hunter, has agreed to plead guilty to two charges of failing to pay income taxes.
He is charged with two misdemeanors of failing to pay on over $1.5 million in taxable income in 2017 and 2018. He is expected to serve two years of probation as a result. Hunter had disclosed in December of 2020 that he was under investigation for his tax affairs, and at the time he denied any wrongdoing.
Hunter also faces a federal felony charge of possessing a gun while knowingly using or addicted to illicit drugs. Reports say that he has entered a diversion program after admitting to illegally purchasing a firearm, while on drugs, in 2018.
Reports suggest that if Hunter complies with the program, after a certain amount of time, the felony charge will be dropped altogether.
Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) is leading the Congressional investigation into the Biden family. He criticized the plea agreement as nothing more than “a slap on the wrist.”
