In what is the latest twist in the ongoing House investigation into President Biden, Republicans on the House Oversight Committee will not hold FBI director Chris Wray in contempt of Congress.
After weeks of stonewalling, Wray had until this morning to hand over a subpoenaed document or face contempt charges. That document alleges Biden was part of a $5 million foreign bribery scheme while Vice President.
Oversight Chair James Comer said the FBI director could face jail time if he refused to comply with the subpoena. Comer released a statement late Wednesday saying “the FBI has caved” and is giving the entire committee access to the file, which reportedly is part of an ongoing investigation.
The FBI will also allow Comer and ranking Democrat Jamie Raskin to review two additional files referenced in the original document.
