Now that Republican hardliners have agreed to stop holding up votes, the House has passed a bill aimed at preventing a nationwide gas stove ban.

Tuesday, more than two dozen Democrats joined the House GOP in passing the bill in 248-180 vote. The bill was introduced after Consumer Product and Safety Commissioner Richard Trumka suggested a ban on gas stoves, citing concerns of childhood asthma.

As previously reported, members of the House Freedom Caucus blocked the bill last week during their revolt against Speaker Kevin McCarthy. A temporary agreement was reached following discussions between Freedom Caucus members and Speaker McCarthy.

The fate of the bill remains unknown in the Democrat-led Senate. The House will also vote on another bill protecting the sales and use of gas stoves later this week.
