Democrat voters want to see President Biden face off with his closest contender for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination.
A new Convention of States Action poll says that 78% of voters want to see Biden debate Robert F Kennedy jr. That includes 58% of Democrats. Sixty-eight percent of voters also believe that Biden, who is already 80-years-old, is too old to serve effectively for a second term. Kennedy, meanwhile, is 69.
Biden’s campaign says no decision has been made about a primary debate. It would be the first time an incumbent president participated in one during a reelection campaign.
Kennedy, meanwhile, is frequently dismissed as a fringe candidate despite polls placing him anywhere from 11% to 20% support.
