Well, it looks like residential wildfires aren’t just a California phenomenon.

This past Sunday, a wildfire in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia led to thousands of evacuations and even several school closures.

Reuters reports that the city of Halifax mandated 18,000 homes to be evacuated. Residents won’t be able to return to their homes for at least 7 days or until the fires die down.

Fortunately, no injures have been reported, but dozens of homes were damaged and rescue services were hindered.

Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that the government stood ready “to provide any federal support and assistance needed.”
