Washington state is on track to lawfully take gender dysphoric children away from parents who oppose transitioning treatment.

The bill allows runaway youths to be placed in state care if they are seeking “protected health care services.” This includes gender-affirming care or abortion services

The bill even says host homes could forgo notifying parents of a child’s whereabouts.

State Democrats praised the bill as an important step for children who believe they were born in the wrong body. But State House Republican Cyndy Jacobsen says the bill assumes parents don’t have their kids’ best interest at heart.

The bill has now passed both state legislative chambers. It waits for Governor Jay Inslee’s signatures.
