According to the newest Rasmussen Presidential Poll, Former President Donald Trump’s polling numbers are stronger than ever after his arraignment and show him leading President Joe Biden 47%-40%.

In the 24 hours after Trump was indicted on 34 charges in New York, his campaign was able to raise $4 million. Just days after that windfall, new polls show Trump has a decisive lead over President Joe Biden if an election were to be held today.

While many believed that these indictments would hurt Trump’s bid to become the next president, so far the opposite has occurred. President Trump has actually garnered additional support and sympathy as people seem to agree with his stance that the charges being brought against him are baseless and political in nature.

“I believe this witch hunt will backfire massively on Joe Biden. The American people realize exactly what the radical left Democrats are doing here. Everyone can see it. So, our movement and our party, united and strong, will first defeat Alvin Bragg and then we will defeat Joe Biden, and we are going to throw every last one of these crooked Democrats out of office so we can make America great again,” Trump said through a statement issued on Fox News.

Rasmussen Reports tweeted the results of its new poll with the words “Reversal of Fortune, Massive Strategic Backfire – Stay Tuned.”

Rolling Stone reported that Trump insisted on making his arraignment a “spectacle.” The article states that Trump was offered a chance to be arraigned over Zoom but opted for a booking at the Manhattan courthouse instead.

“He wanted a perp walk; he wanted daylight hours,” says the law enforcement official. “He wants to get out of the vehicle and walk up the stairs.” The official believes that Trump wanted to send the message that if “they can do it to him, they can do it to you.”

Trump is known for taking risks both politically and in business, and his decision to be arraigned in Manhattan in front of the world was just that, a risk. Trump believes that he is being persecuted politically, and he took a risk on his own ability to convince others that the charges being brought against him are nothing more than an attack on an innocent man. So far that risk is working in his favor.

Not only is Trump leading Biden by seven points in the newest Rasmussen poll, but he is also leading in the Real Clear Politics polling average by 1.8 points over Biden. This poll takes the average of multiple general election polls, and the two most recent in that average were both taken primarily in April and both have Trump leading Biden.

“I never thought anything like this could happen in America,” Trump said from his Florida home, Mar-a-Lago, after flying back from New York. “The only crime I’ve committed is to fearlessly defend our nation from those who seek to destroy it.”

The more Democrats attempt to silence Trump and take away his ability to run for office, the more voters turn to him and believe his contention that he is guilty of nothing more than defending America no matter who is trying to destroy her.
