More details are now known about yesterday’s heartbreaking bank shooting yesterday which involved six deaths.
Gunman Connor Sturgeon promised to kill everyone at the Old National Bank in a disturbing voicemail to a friend. Some friends claim the 25-year-old was recently let go from his job at the bank.
Authorities haven’t released an official motive, though. Sturgeon was eliminated at the scene as he continued to shoot at officers and people.
His victims are now up to five after the tragic passing of 57-year-old Deana Eckert at the hospital last night. All were bank executives, ranging in age from 40 to 63.
The youngest victim, Joshua Barrick, was named as one of the top 20 people to know in banking just three years ago. His pastor said he was known in the community “in all the good ways.”
Meanwhile, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear’s close friend and confidante Tommy Elliot died at the scene.
Officer Nickolas Wilt who was critically wounded in the exchange has received accolades for his heroism. He is a rookie cop sworn in only a week ago. Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg gave an update on his condition this morning.
Wilt is now in stable condition after undergoing brain surgery.
