Democrats painted a target on Justice Clarence Thomas’s back last week, but his billionaire friend is firing back at critics.

Last week, ProPublica accused the Supreme Court justice of not properly disclosing gifts from GOP megadonor Harlan Crow. The billionaire purchased a home co-owned by Thomas and his mother back in 2014, and paid for luxury vacations for the justice and his wife. Left-leaning media accused the justice of intentionally concealing the financial relationship.

But Crow is calling the reports a political hit job. He said the reports lacked integrity and unfairly slammed both himself and Thomas. Crow added that they have several differing opinions on topics, like abortion, but he would never try to influence court decisions.

Thomas also defended the personal hospitality, saying he was advised not to disclose things like family vacations. Thomas is now reportedly amending past financial disclosures.
