After requests for documents have gone mostly unanswered, Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chair of both the House Judiciary Committee and Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, has adopted a new approach in his quest to learn if the FBI has unfairly targeted conservatives.
Saturday, Jordan sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray requesting interviews with 16 bureau employees.
“Our need to obtain testimony from FBI employees is vital for carrying out our oversight and for informing potential legislative reforms to the operations and activities of the FBI,” Jordan wrote. “From the documentary and testimonial information that we have obtained to date, we have identified several FBI employees who we believe possess information that is necessary for our oversight.”

Jordan’s reference to documentary evidence follows a recent report from the Epoch Times that the Ohio legislator had grown frustrated with the FBI for failing to honor subpoenas requesting documents regarding the FBI’s dealings with conservative parents and pro-lifers, among other things.
According to the Epoch Times report, the Department of Justice and Department of Education had responded to similar subpoenas by turning over hundreds of documents apiece to Jordan. The FBI, Jordan says, has submitted documents numbering in the single digits.
But, as reported by Breitbart, Jordan has conducted a small number of interviews with FBI employees that, in conjunction with what documents he has received, provide the foundation of the latest request.
“The Biden administration has weaponized the DOJ and the FBI to advance its radical agenda at the expense of Americans’ freedoms,” Rep. Ben Cline (R-Va.) tweeted. “Accountability is coming.”
At present, the names of the 16 FBI employees Jordan wishes to interview have not been made public and are redacted on the publicly available copy of the letter.
Jordan’s latest move is part of a larger-scale effort to intensify pressure on various federal intelligence agencies.
Last Wednesday, Jordan and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner (R-Ohio) sent letters requesting transcribed interviews with about 30 members of the intelligence community who signed a letter in 2020 decrying the New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story as the product of misinformation.
To date, such requests have gone unanswered. Jordan has sought interviews from the signatories since 2022 with no luck. However, his previous writings came before he had the weight of Congress behind the request.
