President Joe Biden’s approval rating currently sits at a measly 38%, according to a new poll by the Associated Press, a number very close to his all-time low of 36%, which he received last July.
The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research (AP-NORC) found 41% of those surveyed supported him In January. Researchers saw that number go up to 45% in February only to watch it fall to where it is now, a time in our nation’s history marked by hiked interest rates, bank meltdowns, the growing threat of war, and high inflation.

CALLS FOR NEW LEADERSHIP
With the president giving every indication that he plans to seek a second term and kick off his reelection campaign, members of his own party are reluctant to show their support.
If you reference the latest poll, only 54% of Democrats under the age of 45 approve of the way President Biden is handling the economy. Only 66% of Democrats who are in that same age group approve of Biden overall.
Fox News contributor Liz Peek took note of the rating on social media and tweeted: “Joe Biden’s approval rating sinks to 38%. No wonder he hasn’t announced campaign.”

There’s another group of Democrats who are taking a more pronounced stand and calling for the president to step down. Eleven diverse Democrats were featured in a report by “The Nation” with many of them saying the president should not run again.
“Joe Biden should solidify his legacy and personal dignity by not running for reelection. My stomach clenches at the prospect of a venerable president becoming incapable of strong leadership for all the dangers of aging past 80, at the inevitable wince-worthy moments that may accrue to the point of putting our nation at risk,” said Barbara Lawton, a former lieutenant governor of Wisconsin.
Joe Biden would be 82 by Inauguration day in 2025 and many say they want to see younger blood leading the Democratic Party’s ticket in 2024.
Former Ohio state senator Nina Turner said that it’s time for the Democratic Party to at least consider other options.
With the ripple effects of this global pandemic, inflation, and diminished quality of life suffocating most Americans, there is no time for a coronation. A robust debate of ideas is needed now more than ever. The American people deserve to have choice in their lives and having multiple candidates to choose from in a presidential election is no different.”
Norman Solomon, the national director of RootsAction.org, agreed.
“The extreme crises that we face require bold, progressive leadership of the kind that President Biden has not provided,” Solomon said. “He may have exceeded low expectations, but Democrats need a better nominee at the top of the 2024 ticket.”
TRUST IN ECONOMY, BANKS HITTING ROCK BOTTOM
In a separate AP-NORC poll that was released Wednesday, researchers found only 25% of all Americans feel the nation’s economy is in good shape. Only 10% have a great deal of confidence in the nation’s banks, with most saying the government isn’t doing enough to regulate the industry.
Theresa Ojuro, a 29-year-old doctoral student who voted for Biden in 2020, said she “expected more” from the president. A resident of Rochester, New York, Ojuro said she’s concerned about bank failures and high taxes.
“If Biden is doing his job, why in a state like this can you see people really suffering?” Ojuro asked.
Another new poll from Monmouth University also showed a low approval rating for President Biden. The survey found 41% of Americans approve of Biden’s job as president, a dip from his 43% approval rating in January.
Researchers with AP-NORC conducted their poll from March 16-20 and interviewed 1,081 U.S. adults. The study reports a margin of error of 4%.
