California Governor Gavin Newsom has launched a campaign to put billboards in seven states with abortion bans, reminding women that they can still terminate their pregnancy in California.

Currently, California has funded signs in Indiana, Mississippi, Ohio, Texas, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Oklahoma, according to CBS News. All of the signs point readers to abortion.ca.gov, which is a one-stop website to provide information on how to obtain an abortion and general abortion-related care in California.

In Texas, the billboards read “Texas doesn’t own your body. You do,” as well as “Need an abortion? California is here to help.”

Newsom has been clear about what he hopes to accomplish with the signage.

“Here is my message to any woman seeking abortion care in these anti-freedom states: Come to California. We will defend your constitutional right to make decisions about your own health,” Newsom said in a news release.

The state of California’s budget includes $200 million allocated to increase abortion access to Americans following the overturn of federal protection for abortion earlier this year. Included in that is $1 million dedicated to a website that promotes the state’s abortion services, which went live on Tuesday following an announcement from the governor.

In November, Californians will vote on whether or not to codify protections for preborn infanticide all the way up to the point of birth, regardless of the reason. That means a mother could go into labor after 9 months of pregnancy, panic, and have a medical professional legally kill her fully viable child just before birth.

Some Californians, including Pastor Jack Hibbs, are fighting to keep the state from becoming one of “unlimited death.”

Newsom’s announcement about the state’s abortion website came on the same day that U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) introduced a bill to ban abortions nationwide after 15 weeks of gestation. The lawmaker said the bill was a responsible alternative to some of the Democrat suggestions, according to National Public Radio.

Shortly after the announcement, Newsom tweeted, “That’s their agenda. CA’s fighting back.”

Additionally, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre released a statement from the Biden administration reiterating Democrats’ promise to restore federal protections for abortion rights.

“Republicans in Congress are focused on taking rights away from millions of women,” Jean-Pierre said. “The President and Vice President are fighting for progress, while Republicans are fighting to take us back.”
