At the 2022 Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA, one young competitor who suffered a terrible off-field head injury — followed by surgery, a coma, and a second hit to the head — is recovering miraculously, serving as a testimony to God’s goodness.

Easton Oliverson is a youngster on the Snow Canyon Little League squad from Utah that is representing the Mountain Region at Williamsport. On Aug. 14, he suffered a horrific head injury when he fell out of his bunk bed in the team dormitories while sleeping in the middle of the night. Oliverson fractured his skull as a result of the fall and was rushed to the hospital.

Providentially, doctors were able to save his life, but the surgery forced the medical staff to put Easton into a coma.

According to updates from his family on Instagram, the boy was recovering steadily after surgery. However, Oliverson hit his head while attempting to go to the bathroom unaccompanied on Saturday night.

Oliverson’s nickname is ‘Tank.” A post on the @miraclesfortank Instagram account reads: “Easton had a CT scan today to make sure that there wasn’t any swelling from his fall last night. The results came back NORMAL!
“We feel so grateful and blessed to have witnessed yet another miracle in Easton’s recovery!”

Easton’s family has attributed his miraculous recovery to God’s goodness in protecting their son from a severely worse outcome. They shared a video of their son walking with the words: “We are at a loss for words. There are none that seem fitting other than: God is Good. SO GOOD!”

The family shared the update on Instagram on Friday, the same day he took his first steps on his own after the injury:

The Oliverson family firmly believes in the power of miracles through faith. We have seen this to be true so far in Easton’s recovery. We are so grateful for the faith and prayers of everyone who is rooting for Easton. We know that miracles are happening in his recovery because of them!

The family continued with specifics on how Easton is recovering:

Easton has been moved out of the ICU! He is now in a regular hospital room. He has been sitting up in a chair, and was able to stand up and take two steps with support! He drank and fed himself! We are astonished by his strength and willingness to try new things! He has been communicating more frequently with his Mom, Dad, and Uncles who have been at the hospital with him. His voice has been significantly more clear when he talks!

As an added level of inspiration from this story, Easton was able to watch his team take the field for their first game of the LLWS on Friday. His little brother Brogan, known affectionately by his teammates as “Little T,” took his older brother’s spot on the team in his stead in the 11th hour.
