Two life-long Democrat judges have switched political parties and will run for reelection as Republicans due to the Biden administration’s lax border policies. Both women are judges in Texas border communities and have shifted political affiliations on the sole basis of the mismanagement of border control by the current administration.
The open border policies have allowed over 2 million people from 150 countries to cross the southern border. Biden’s open-border policies have allowed increased human trafficking as well as increased smuggling of humans, drugs, and weapons into the judges’ communities.
Both judges attended a recent campaign event for the GOP Texas Governor, Greg Abbott. Terrell County Judge Dale Carruthers stated at the event, “I come from a Hispanic heritage, which was prominently Democrat. The chaos at the border and everything that’s been going on makes me realize that I needed to switch parties.”
Gov. Greg Abbott commented on Judge Carruthers’ political party change, saying, “She’s now running for re-election as a Republican, joining a growing number of Hispanics who have walked away from the Democratic Party. Together, we’ll secure the future of Texas.”
Abbott also posted a tweet while sitting next to Presidio County Judge Cinderela Guevara. Guevara smiled as she declared she would be running as a Republican in the next election. She stated, “I’ve been a Democrat since 1992. I’ve always ran as a Democrat, and this is my first year to run as a Republican. I’m very grateful for Gov. Abbott for all he has done for Texas and continues to do for Texas, especially with our border crisis.”
I'm in Fort Stockton tonight with Judge Cinderela Guevara!

On July 5, both judges declared an invasion at the southern border, along with four other counties and one city. When discussing the declaration, Carruthers explained, “We have experienced an invasion that is something of every language. We are trying to protect the sovereignty of Texas. I am a constitutional judge, and we are standing behind the constitution.”
She expressed that her small town of approximately 1,000 residents has been overwhelmed with foreign nationals crossing over from Mexico.
It is clear the Biden administration is quickly learning the consequences of their open-border policy. The Department of Homeland Security announced it would be filling in the gaps in the wall construction begun by former President Donald Trump.
The White House has also been in contact with the mayor of DC and the National Guard in an attempt to deal with the illegal immigrants that have been bused to DC and NYC from Arizona and Texas in their attempts to show the burden that the influx of illegal immigrants is placing on the various small towns at the southern border of the United States.
When asked about the border situation, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre deflected the responsibility and blamed Republicans for “meddling in the process and using migrants as a political pawn.”
The invasion at the border has finally caught the attention of the administration. One can’t help but wonder if these two previously-Democrat judges are just the start of a trend of blue candidates turning red in the upcoming elections.
