In the days immediately following Jesus Christ’s ascension to heaven after His resurrection, His followers had a tall order. Their Master had commanded them to go into all the world and share the good news He had given them. The problem was – they would go up against a ferocious enemy, not only in pagan Rome, but also in the Jewish contingent that had just ordered their Messiah to be put to death for what He said and did. But the disciples, emboldened by their Master’s example, resolved to follow His words no matter what the cost. The Church grew and spread rapidly throughout the years after Jesus left the earth, in what would become known as the Apostolic Age of the Church.
