Buffalo Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley has been one of the most outspoken critics of the NFL’s strict COVID-19 policies. Before the 2021 season began, he publicly declared that he did not receive the jab, despite the apparent favoritism the league has shown to those who do.

This past week, Beasley tested positive for COVID-19 but fortunately appears to be experiencing only mild symptoms. In response to criticism from the league and much of the mainstream society, Beasley is taking this opportunity to highlight the inconsistencies in the NFL’s rules for vaccinated and unvaccinated players.

He posted on Instagram after his placement on the NFL’s COVID-19 reserve list,

Just to be clear COVID is not keeping me out of this game. The rules are. Vaxxed players are playing with Covid every week now because they don’t test. One of my vaxxed teammates is in the hospital missing games. I’m sure he didn’t get this same energy. Thank you for those who support. Everyone else, if you don’t get what’s happening then there is nothing anybody can do for you.

Because Beasley is unvaccinated, he will be required to miss the team’s important divisional matchup against the New England Patriots the day after Christmas, since he must quarantine for ten days before rejoining the team.

If he had received the jab and caught the virus, he would be allowed to rejoin the team as soon as he received a negative COVID-19 test. Instead, the Bills’ veteran receiver will sit out of what could be one of the biggest games of the season. Buffalo is 8-6 and New England is 9-5 heading into the game, and should the Bills win on Sunday, they would set themselves up for a golden opportunity to steal the AFC East crown after a regular season that failed to deliver on the team’s high offseason expectations.
