Fans of college football were treated to a delightful slate of games this past Saturday. They saw the perennial #1 ranked team in the nation fall and also witnessed an epic comeback in the legendary “Red River Rivalry.”
The Alabama Crimson Tide slipped to number 5 in the newly released college football rankings marking the first time the powerhouse has been out of the top 3 since 2019 and ending a 14 week run at number 1. This came after a shocking upset at the hands of an unranked Texas A&M team on Saturday. Aggie kicker Seth Small made a 28 yard field goal as time expired to give A&M a 41-38 win and snap Alabama’s 100 game win streak against unranked opponents. The Aggies jumped to a 4-2 record with the win.

In other college football news Oklahoma rallied from an 18-point deficit to beat the Texas Longhorns 55-48 in an instant “Red River Rivalry” classic. The Sooners kept their undefeated season alive after head coach Lincoln Riley switched QBs midway through the second quarter to spark the comeback. The Sooners won the game on an unbelievable last-second 34-yard touchdown run by running back Kennedy Brooks.

Meanwhile, Texas suffered its second loss of the season, likely knocking them out of a chance at the College Football Playoffs even if they could win the rest of their regular season games. The Longhorns retained their nationwide top-25 rank, sitting at #21 in the nation with a 4-2 record.
After 6 weeks of action the AP poll top 5 has Georgia in the #1 spot, followed by Iowa, Cincinnati, Oklahoma and Alabama.
