The Atlanta Braves defeated the Houston Astros 6-2 to take a 1-0 lead in the World Series last night. This was a huge win for underdog Braves, as the jumped out to an early lead while the series remains in Houston.
The game started with a historic moment as Jorge Soler became the first person to ever hit a homerun in the first at bat of a World Series sending the third pitch of the game to the left field bleachers.

Adam Duvall also launched a 2-run shot in the third to give the Braves a commanding 5-0 lead as they coasted to a 6-2 win.

The Braves suffered a devastating loss despite the win as starting pitcher Charlie Morton exited the game in the third inning after he broke his leg on a comebacker in the second inning. Morton proved his grit by throwing 16 more pitches and retiring 3 more batters before succumbing to the pain and revealing he was injured. The Braves will now be forced to fill a big hole in his absence, making the win in the opener all the more important.
Game 2 of the series will be back in Houston tonight where the Astros hope to even up the series before it heads to Atlanta.
