Dr. Anthony Fauci appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America on Tuesday where he said the reason he still wore a mask after being vaccinated was for the optics, not to prevent infection, seemingly contradicting statements he made to Senator Rand Paul (KY-R) in March.
Fauci told host Geroge Stephanopoulos that he wore a mask prior to the CDC updating it’s guidelines to say that fully vaccinated individuals can remove their masks indoors, essentially for show. Fauci said; “I didn’t want to look like I was giving mixed signals. But being a fully vaccinated person, the chances of my getting infected, in an indoor setting, is extremely low.”
Dr. Fauci says he's much more "comfortable" being seen indoors without a mask.

FISM News reported in March on Senator Rand Paul’s (KY-R) heated exchange with Fauci, where he accused the doctor of masking post-vaccination for “theater.” Fauci scoffed at Paul, “Here we go again with the theater.”
“Let me just state for the record that masks are not theater. Masks are protective,” Fauci said.
Paul asserted, “You’re telling everybody to wear a mask whether they’ve had infection or had a vaccine. What I’m saying is they have immunity and everybody agrees they have immunity.”
