Tom Brady stands on the cusp of history. If he can lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a win in Super Bowl LV on Sunday night, there is little doubt that he will be remembered as the greatest NFL player of all time; possibly even the greatest professional athlete in American history.

Brady is about to play in a record tenth Super Bowl of his career, and also stands atop the all-time list with six Super Bowl wins. All six of his titles thus far were won during a brilliant twenty-year career with the New England Patriots. Brady owns a litany of all time records, including touchdown passes (581), regular season wins (230), and playoff wins (33).  Now, at 43 years old, he has the chance to win another championship with a new team, a new coach, and a new offensive system.

Almost all professional athletes are happily retired by the time they turn 40.  Not Brady.  He has made it clear that he intends to play the best football of his career in his forties, and so far, he is well on his way.  Since his 40th birthday, Brady has won an NFL MVP award (2017), won one Super Bowl, and reached two more.

This year, at the age of 43, he threw for over 4,600 yards and 40 touchdown passes.  He led the Buccaneers to an 11-5 record and three playoff wins, all on the road.  If he can win another title on Sunday against the mighty Chiefs, a team coming off their own Super Bowl victory and loaded with talent at every position, he will become the first quarterback in NFL history to win a Super Bowl in three different decades.

Love him or hate him, Tom Brady is one of the greatest players of all time. If he wins his seventh Vince Lombardi Trophy on Sunday night, he will have cemented himself as the greatest to ever play the game.
