Tesla has filed a suit to the Court of International Trade against the Trump administration, specifically naming Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, against tariffs put on some Chinese goods that the company imports and uses in their vehicles. Tesla is looking for a full refund plus interest for what they have already paid.
This is not the first time that Tesla and Lighthizer clashed over the president’s tariffs on China. Last year Lighthizer denied a request from Tesla to be exempt from some of the tariffs, who were saying that the increased price of some of the computing items they import would be detrimental to their business.
Tesla is one of a few other companies to file a suit against the Trump administration concerning the tariffs. Others include automakers Ford, Volvo, and Mercedes-Benz.
