It was the largest Chinese air force incursion to date, although there was no sense of alarm on the island, which has witnessed a steady increase in Chinese pressure in recent years, Taiwan’s official Central News Agency said.

Airlines canceled over 2,500 flights as of the early afternoon Monday, according to flight tracking website FlightAware. The hardest hit was Southwest Airlines with about 1,700 cancellations, while Delta Air Lines Inc had over 250 cancellations.   

Approximately 110 to 130 migrants seeking asylum in the U.S. were placed on buses by Texas officials, said Tatiana Laborde, managing director of SAMU First Response, a relief agency working with the city of Washington, D.C.

The blast, which tore the roof off the emergency department at the Tambo Memorial Hospital, destroyed two houses and several cars, and injured bystanders, occurred when the vehicle caught fire while under a low bridge on Christmas Eve.

“We are ready to negotiate with everyone involved about acceptable solutions, but that is up to them — we are not the ones refusing to negotiate, they are,” Putin said in a Sunday address on state-owned television channel Rossiya 1.

“We cannot effectively reach children, women, and men in desperate need in Afghanistan without our female staff,” the statement said, adding that, without women driving the effort, they would not have reached millions of Afghans in need since August last year.
