Billionaire Palantir CEO Alexander Karp has made a personal donation to a hermit who recently lost his cabin home in a fire. Hermit David Lidstone, also known as River Dave, has lived in a cabin out in the woods in New Hampshire for the past 30 years. River Dave was recently in the headlines and jailed after he refused to leave his cabin after the new owners of the land ask him to leave. River Dave told the new owners and the press that he had a private verbal agreement with the land’s previous owner.

At least 22 people have been killed in historic floods that ravaged the central portion of Tennessee on Sunday. In addition to those who lost their lives, dozens of people are still missing and at least 60 people have been injured in what is now the deadliest flood in Middle Tennessee history.

The US State Department was the target of a substantial cyberattack in recent weeks according to Fox News reporter Jacqui Heinrich via Twitter thread. The State Department released a statement saying that,

Since taking power in Afghanistan the Taliban have substantially increased their propaganda and international advertising seeking to cement support at home and acknowledgment internationally. To this end one of the Taliban’s elite units known as Badri 313 Battalion recently released a video as well as a number of pictures where they are seen mocking the US. In fact, one of their pictures appears to be a copy of the famous Iwo Jima flag photo from World War II.
Five year old Harvey Sutton has completed hiking the Appalachian Trail with his parents in 209 days. He is the youngest person to complete the trail in a continues hike and the second youngest person to complete the trail at all. The historic and beautiful Appalachian Trail stretches 2,193 miles from Springer Mountain, Georgia to Katadhin, Maine.

Tropical Storm Henri made landfall in Rhode Island at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Sunday. The storm had been traveling up the East Coast over the past several days, though there was much uncertainty of where exactly it would hit until right before the epicenter hit the small New England state.
