U.S. law enforcement has been on high alert since the war in Israel began, and the FBI is now tracking an increased number of hate crimes against both Jewish and Muslim Americans.
Last week, vandals in Fresno, California, smashed the windows at a Jewish-owned business and Temple while in Utah multiple synagogues received bomb threats, forcing worshipers to evacuate. But it’s not just violence against the Jewish community; attacks against Muslim Americans are also on the rise.
Attorney General Merrick Garland is now launching a federal hate crimes investigation into the stabbing death of a 6-year-old Muslim boy in Illinois. Police say the attack was likely in response to the Israel-Hamas War.
This comes as federal law enforcement agents are also keeping an eye out for much larger attacks. President Joe Biden told “60 Minutes” that the threat of terrorism has also increased since last weekend.
