Four lucky fans of the ‘90s Christmas blockbuster movie “Home Alone” will have the opportunity to spend a night in the McCallister family’s stately, Illinois residence. Winners of the contest will get the opportunity to reenact scenes where precocious eight-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) hilariously outsmarted two would-be, bumbling burglars after his parents accidentally left him alone on Christmas.
The one-night-only stay, courtesy of online lodging and tourism company Airbnb and LEGO House, will cost just $25 and promises “booby traps galore” along with “searing splashes of aftershave and ample opportunity to scream into the mirror” – a reference to the film’s most iconic scene.
The successful “crew of mischief-makers” will also enjoy festive holiday decorations, including a “perfectly trimmed” Christmas tree, and a LEGO Ideas Home Alone set to take home. The LEGO replica of the McCallister home, which is currently sold out, retails for $249.99 and includes a backyard treehouse and the decoy plumbing and heating van employed by the Wet Bandits’ (played in the film by Daniel Stern and Joe Pecsi).
Airbnb promotional host Devin D. Ratray, who played Kevin’s older brother Buzz in the film, insist this is not a competition but, rather, a first-come, first-served booking which will be available on the Airbnb website Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. Guests will check in at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12 and stay through 11 a.m. the following day.

“We may all be older and wiser now, but we’re never too old for holiday hijinks. So this year, spend the holidays not-so-home-alone at my parents’ house,” said Ratray in the promotion, adding, “don’t burn the joint down and keep the change, ya filthy animal!”
The lucky lodgers will be treated to movie-nod delicacies, including Kevin’s favorite Chicago pizza and “a candlelit dinner of microwavable Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.” The booking also includes a “meet and greet” with a live tarantula and a special showing of the latest addition to the Home Alone film franchise, “Home Sweet Home Alone”, courtesy of Disney+.
While this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is limited to one family, Home Alone fans can visit the fictional McCallister clan’s abode, located at 671 Lincoln Ave in Winnetka, IL, year-round.
Released Nov. 16, 1990 and directed by Chris Columbus, the family-friendly film raked in $476.7 million at the box office and has become a Christmas movie tradition in many households.
