It’s only been a few days since the House elected a new speaker and many Americans are understandably wondering – who exactly is Mike Johnson?
The new speaker sat down with Fox News’ Sean Hannity to answer that question. The topics ranged from the war in Ukraine to the economy. But the conversation started off with gun control in light of the mass shooting in Maine.
The conversation later turned to foreign policy, specifically funding for the wars in Israel in Ukraine. Johnson thinks funding should continue for both, but says the U.S. needs to be more responsible with the way it’s aiding Ukraine.
Domestically, Johnson says he’s focused on avoiding a government shutdown next month and continuing oversight of the Biden administration including the ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. But perhaps his most interesting answer was about his governing philosophy, which he ties directly to his Christian faith.
Johnson ended the interview by saying he believes America has bright days ahead if the country turns back to God. He told Hannity, “Challenges are great … but I believe God is not done with America yet. “
