The White House has announced that President Joe Biden will visit Israel on Wednesday to show support and solidarity. Secretary of State Antony Blinken made the announcement Tuesday.

In addition, the Wall Street Journal reports that the Pentagon is preparing 2,000 troops to send to Israel to assist with medical support and advising, specifically when it comes to the hostage situation. Defense officials said previously that the Pentagon has no intention of putting US forces on the ground in a combat role.

This comes on the heels of the US sending two aircraft carriers to the region, which Blinken says is meant to deter any other nations who might want to escalate the war. But some aren’t viewing it that way.

Iran voiced its criticism Monday, saying the US is already too heavily involved with the conflict. The nation threatened the US with “significant damages” should the war escalate.
