Pastor and author Andy Stanley is affirming the traditional biblical definition of marriage amid controversy over his “Unconditional Conference” this past weekend. It was an event for parents with LGBT kids.
That conference drew criticism from the likes of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary president Albert Mohler, who noted that two of the conference speakers were in gay relationships. Speaking on Sunday morning, Stanley responded to those criticisms saying “Biblical marriage is between a man and a woman.”
He says the purpose of the conference was to help parents connect or reconnect with their children, and added, “We aren’t condoning sin. We are restoring relationships.”
Confusion still remains about Stanley’s view on homosexuality. Theologian Dr. Michael Brown says Stanley has refused to clearly answer him when asked if same-sex practice is always wrong in God’s sight.
