Cuba is accusing Russia of using a human trafficking operation for the purpose of military recruitment.

The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday it had detected the smuggling ring and was working to neutralize it. According to the ministry, Cubans are targeted with propaganda that makes Cuba look like an ally in the war on Ukraine.

The ministry condemned the recruitment racket and warned that it will take “energetic action” against those who use it.
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriquez said Tuesday that authorities are taking legal action against the traffickers.

It’s the latest news to suggest that Russia is scrambling for more soldiers to use in Ukraine.
