The Biden administration is now reopening a program that mails free COVID-19 tests to any household who requests them, while also investing $600 million into boosting test manufacturing.
Insurance companies no longer fully cover the cost of these tests since the public health emergency expired this past spring. Starting on Monday, households can order up to four free tests through COVIDtests.gov.
The Biden administration said it expects to secure about 200 million tests from a dozen different manufacturers.
With an election year right around the corner, some are concerned that an uptick in COVID cases, and therefore the possible reintroduction of COVID-era policies, will disrupt voting again.
