The heavily progressive Golden State is making waves again. California is now the first state to dedicate the month of August to the transgender movement.
The California Assembly passed a resolution last Friday to commemorate Transgender History Month every August. Author of the bill and Democrat Assembly Member Matt Haney said, “I believe that as Californians our strongest defense against the anti-trans agenda is just to tell the truth. Let’s tell the truth about transgender people’s lives, and let’s lift up the history of the transgender Californians who left their mark on our great state.” The resolution is set to take effect next year.
This comes as more and more Californians are trying to put an end to the gender identity activism that infamously targets minors against their parents’ wishes.
A new activist group called ‘Protect Kids California’ recently filed three initiatives related to gender policies in schools, sports, and healthcare for the 2024 ballot. All three measures are designed to protect the biological integrity of students in the public sphere.
This development is in part a response to California State Attorney Rob Bonta, who sued Chino Valley Unified School District over their gender disclosure policy.
“We’re in court challenging Chino Valley Unified’s forced outing policy for wrongfully and unconstitutionally discriminating against and violating the privacy rights of LGBTQ+ students,” Bonta said.
“The forced outing policy wrongfully endangers the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of non-conforming students who lack an accepting environment in the classroom and at home,” he added.
Bonta argued that the district’s policy violates California’s Equal Protection Clause and Education and Government Code. Bonta’s move is not unheard of.
Earlier this year, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin filed a similar civil complaint against three school districts for informing parents about their kids’ gender identity. Platkin made similar arguments to Bonta, saying that the government must protect the rights of LGBT-identifying students.
History tends to repeat itself, so this is not the first time that gender identities and roles are coming under attack. The ancient Roman empire’s culture was similar to our modern culture. It was during those years that the Apostle Paul discipled churches on issues related to sexuality.
Today, Ephesians 2 reminds us that before we knew Christ, we used to live like the world around us. We used to be products of our culture. So, if we conform to the government’s definition of what it means to be a man or a woman and what it means to be healthy from a sexual perspective, we will undermine our God-given identity and purpose. This is because we must reject who we used to be as unbelievers and embrace God’s truth that “we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
