Left-wing climate groups and members of Congress are now using the devastating fires in Hawaii to pressure President Biden into declaring a “national emergency” over climate change.
The possibility of such a move has some wondering if this could result in climate lockdowns, restrictions on travel and energy usage, and more. But not everyone is on the same page of whether climate change is to blame. ABC News reported that an unknown spark quickly set parts of the island ablaze.
The Washington Post called the fire a “compound disaster,” saying multiple factors contributed to the massive scale of the fire, such as utility services not cutting power to reduce fire risks.
Meanwhile, the search and rescue missions continue as over 700 people are still missing. The latest death toll stands at 115.
