It’s now been two days since the first Republican debate, and the winner looks to be a man who wasn’t even there.
Fox News is celebrating reports that 13 million viewers watched on Wednesday night. That’s half a million more people than the 2016 primary debate saw.
But those numbers are eclipsed by the remarkable 200 million views on Tucker Carlson’s pre-taped interview with Donald Trump.
The interview segment went live on X, formerly known as Twitter, at the same time as the debate. Within 10 minutes, it had already amassed 20 million impressions.
The former president continues to lead polls and, so far, none of the other Republican candidates have been able to whittle away his support.
