A trial is now underway over the Biden administration’s humanitarian parole program.

Texas is leading the lawsuit, with 21 other red states on board to try and prove that the administration is overreaching its authority. This program allows 30,000 people from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela into the country each month.

The administration claims this legal pathway has reduced migration at the southern border. But Texas and its cohorts argue the program is overusing its statutory parole authority, which is meant only for use on a “case-by-case basis.”

The court proceedings began Thursday and are expected to wrap up Friday.
